Or you\u2019re a busy entrepreneur who\u2019s working hard to get things up and running. Either way, sleep or rather the lack of it impacts our health negatively. That said, a little more than an hour a week, so around 10 minutes a day, of mindfulness practice may have similar benefits as an additional 44 minutes of sleep a night, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/today.oregonstate.edu\/news\/mindfulness-and-sleep-can-reduce-exhaustion-entrepreneurs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">new study<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Study<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In this study 105 entrepreneurs have been interviewed about their exhaustion levels and if they had a mindfulness practice established. If they had one, they asked for the duration of the practice and their hours of sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants worked on average 50 hours and more each week and slept less than 6 hours a night. But not being low on sleep and still\nfeeling stressed doesn\u2019t seem to improve exhaustion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mindfulness Take-Away<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This means, in my opinion, while you have enough physical recovery, external stress can still tire you a lot more than you might think. You might need to find a more sustainable way to handle stress and your overall workload. A breathing routine is a wonderful way to establish mindfulness, <a href=\"http:\/\/taoofstefan.com\/blog\/main\/lifestyle\/biohacking\/box-breathing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"here's an easy technique that will lower your stress within moments (opens in a new tab)\">here&#8217;s an easy technique that will lower your stress within moments<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously this isn\u2019t always possible, especially if you\u2019re starting something new. In this case you need to get through this, but it\u2019s a temporary problem and shouldn\u2019t become a chronic issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Practicing mindfulness and\/or establishing a meditation routine can help you cope with this situation. Besides that research has shown that a daily practice of mindfulness, meditation or gratitude <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0191886915005450\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">can increase your overall happiness<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:12px\"><em>This article is part of the Short Tao series.
