MAPS Starter Review – Mind Pump Media

Mind Pump Media started out as a podcast. The hosts, Sal, Adam and Justin, together with the producer Doug, share their insights about fitness, health or fat loss in almost daily shows. They really tell it as it is, debunking common myths, misunderstandings in order to help you figure out what works and what doesn’t. In this article, I introduce you to MAPS Starter (or on YouTube).

“MAPS Starter was designed specifically for the beginner who has little to no experience with resistance training or who hasn’t trained consistently for a few years. Designed to increase strength, build muscle and improve overall health, stability and mobility, it comes with a full workout breakdown that tells you exactly what to do for your workouts throughout an entire 9 week period. It also includes videos where we demonstrate each exercise in detail. All you need is a pair of dumbbells (adjustable ones are preferable) and a physioball.” Mind Pump Website

Why am I doing this?

The reason I did this review, is because people kept asking me about my thought about it. Does it work? How was it? Is it fun? Can you actually get stronger? Is it worth the money?

After repeating myself a few times, I decided to review the MAPS programs. I have a playlist with all of them on youtube: Mind Pump Review Playlist.

Just to be clear: this review is my personal opinion. No one paid me to do it. I received no incentive to write this article or record the video.

MAPS Starter Review

In the review, I tackle all the questions mentioned above, and more. If you are intrigued, have a look and make sure to give my video a like and share your thoughts in the comments too. I will share more videos in the future and would love to see you around, so make sure to subscribe to my channel.

MAPS Starter is designed for absolute beginners or at least with them in mind. You need minimal equipment:

  • a couple of dumbbells
  • a physio ball

You will learn everything about MAPS Starter in my YouTube review, but here are a few highlights of the program:

MAPS Starter is a phased program, which contains 3 different phases:

  • for strength,
  • hypertropy and
  • pump.

It’s a 4 day a week program, split up into your foundational training session and so-called tension training sessions. The foundational training is similar to dumbbell bodybuilding training.

The addition of tension training sessions is interesting. Here you will do yoga-inspired movements and hold them in certain ranges. Or on occasion bodybuilding movements, in which tension can be a helpful tool.

It also has some specific guidances for NEAT which increases each phase and should be done on a daily basis.

I hope this gets you excited to watch my review!
